Stinger, Niro, Soul, Sorento lead 2018’s great start for Kia accolades

We have so many really exciting and special vehicles for 2018 here at Barnett Kia. But, you don’t have to believe us (even though we like to think you would).

You can believe MotorWeek, Autotrader, Green Car Journal, and U.S. News & World Report.

Kia Stinger has been named as Best of the Year in MotorWeek’s 2018 Drivers’ Choice Awards, the top honor given among the 14-category program. The accolade is just the latest in a long string of acknowledgments for Stinger, which went on sale late last year and is redefining a staid sport sedan segment previously occupied by more expensive offerings from Germany.  The awards, now in their 36th year, recognize vehicles for bringing innovation and value to the car-buying public.

The MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Awards are consumer-focused and the winners represent the best automotive picks within a large range of lifestyles. As television’s original automotive magazine series, MotorWeek's editorial staff evaluates more than 150 cars, trucks, and sport utility vehicles per year, and winners are chosen based on driving dynamics, performance, technology, practicality, fuel efficiency and dollar value.

“Our annual Drivers’ Choice Awards look at vehicles from a buyer’s point of view. We are aware of trends and innovations, and they play a large part in our selection process,” said MotorWeek host, John Davis. “We also understand that consumers want value and reliability and that’s where we believe the Kia Stinger hits the sweet spot. It’s practical, great to look at, and can be a performance car or an everyday driver, depending on who’s behind the wheel. Our aim is to produce a list of winners that makes sense, and can be used as a practical guide for car shopping.” MotorWeek is a production of Maryland Public Television and is seen nationwide on the PBS broadcast network and on the Velocity cable network.

The 2018 Kia Stinger ALSO was named one of Autotrader’s 10 Best Car Interiors under $50,000 for 2018. Taking into account the amount of time today’s drivers spend in their vehicles, Autotrader’s list aims to help shoppers go beyond the sheet metal and selects cars that make transit more enjoyable through thoughtfully laid out, comfortable, and spacious interiors.

“What’s on the inside of a car is arguably as important as what’s on the outside, since drivers and passengers spend all their travel time here,” said Tara Trompeter, managing editor for Autotrader. “The Kia Stinger’s interior offers a great-looking cabin with upscale materials and intuitive controls. There's also a surprising amount of rear-seat room for a sport sedan -- and we're impressed with the impressive quality of the door panels, which is something you’d typically find in a more expensive vehicle.”

Brimming with power, passion and performance, the 2018 Kia Stinger is a sport sedan dedicated to the thrill of driving while cossetting occupants in luxury. A strong horizontal plane across the dash presents the driver with a thick, leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters. Occupants feel a sense of intimacy balanced by warm and inviting available multi-color LED ambient lights that softly illuminate the interior.

Right now at Barnett, you can lease an all-new 2018 Kia Stinger for just $299 a month for 36 months.*
For environmental achievement in the auto industry, Kia Niro has been named Green Car Journal’s 2018 Green SUV of the Year™. Since the Niro went on sale early last year, it has been a popular choice for consumers seeking a hybrid offering crossover utility and great looks. The Niro beat out crossover/SUV finalists from Chevrolet, Mini, Mazda, and Volvo for the coveted award.

“The Kia Niro impresses on many levels with its appealing style, functionality and features,” said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and “What’s equally important is its hybrid powertrain and affordable price point, a combination that makes the Niro accessible to a great many buyers who wish to drive with a smaller environmental footprint.”

At Barnett, leases on the amazing Kia Niro are as low as an amazing $119 a month for 24 months.**

2018 Kia Soul and Kia Sorento were announced as winners of two of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Cars for the Money” awards. The awards recognize vehicles across 14 categories that represent the best combination of quality and value. Soul was honored with the Best Compact Car for the Money and Sorento claimed the Best 3-Row SUV for the Money.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings compare cars on the basis of safety, reliability and a consensus of industry experts' opinions, along with value – which is measured by a combination of a vehicle's five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published.

“Winning for the second consecutive year, both the Kia Soul and Sorento continue to be class leaders when it comes to offering buyers a smart balance of quality features, utility, comfort and performance, as well as long-term value,” said Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor, U.S. News & World Report.

As the “Best Compact Car for the Money,” the iconic 2018 Kia Soul urban passenger vehicle offers a fun, funky and functional approach to everyday driving. The 2018 model focuses on expanding the availability of UVO eServices across the model range, adding availability of the innovative infotainment system to the Base Convenience Package as well as to Soul Plus as standard equipment. The Soul Plus Primo Package now adds Smart Cruise Control (SCC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). Meanwhile, the new Plus Primo “Lit” Package includes HID headlights and LED positioning lights to enhance Soul’s on-road presence.
