Ever since Spider-Man hit theaters ten years ago, the world has been caught in a superhero whirlwind ever since. Not one summer has gone by without Hollywood making two, three, or upwards of four attempts at breaking the bank with another super dude in spandex. Then again, we're not exactly complaining. As for us here at Barnett Kia, those there movies are the highlights of our summer, almost more so than the arrival of new and used cars at our dealership. And not that it really needs reiterating, but 2012 was one heck of year for superhero fans.

The Avengers finally came out and it was as awesome as they come; and then there was The Dark Knight Rises that achieved the impossible by making us instantly forget everything we so deeply hated about Batman & Robin. Could have done without The Amazing Spider-Man, but hey, you can't win 'em all. At any rate, as good as the film industry was to our inner nerds this past year, it almost pales in comparison to what the auto industry brought to the table.

Now, as a way to raise money for We Can Be Heroes - a charity dedicated towards ending hunger in Africa - the folks at Kia got in touch with the folks at DC Entertainment to find a way to tap into this superhero market the kids are so crazy about these days. Lo and behold, they came up with an idea for the ages: customize a fleet of various Kia models after members of the Justice League, then auction those Kias off at the 2012 SEM Show. So come last October, guess what rolled up on the auction block:

While we didn't catch how much the cars actually went for, we're guessing it was quite the successful venture since Kia and DC are teaming up once again for the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Teaming up on what, exactly? Oh, just a Superman-themed Kia Optima Hybrid, complete with a sleek paint job to complement the Man of Steel's primary color scheme, and not mention his iconic logo adorned right on the hood. Feel free to geek out.

So if you're an interested buyer, then it's high time you got your ticket to the Chicago Auto Show, but if this whole superhero craze is starting to wear on you after a decade, then come see us down at 310 Highway 61 North in White Bear Lake, MN 55110 to test drive one of our fine Kia models today.  After all, when you're rolling with Kia, being human sure has its perks.
