Kia Motors America's done a lot since its time in the U.S., and today Barnett Kia is here to let you in on another great feat: Kia built its one millionth vehicle at the West Point, Georgia manufacturing facility on July 12, and we couldn't be any more proud.
The one millionth vehicle took the of a snow white 2014 Kia Sorento SXL. West Point's been producing Sorento models since 2009 following an initial $1 billion investment. The plant has supplied over 11,000 jobs as well.
"Building one million vehicles in less than four years is a tremendous achievement and one that each one of our more than 3,000 team members can take great pride in," shares Byung Mo Ahn, Group President and CEO for Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia.1
Like he says, this is a large accomplishment completed over a short amount of time. Kia models have been sold in the U.S. since 1992, and the brand was founded in 1944, we can only imagine the potential the company has based on its experience and growth.
"People are the heart and soul of this company, and our team members' commitment to world class quality Is one of the major driving forces behind Kia's unprecedented sales and market share growth in the U;.S. over the last few years," Byung Mo Ahn adds.1
Where will this one millionth Sorento go? It will be transported to one of the Kia Motors America's over 765 dealerships--could it be White Bear, MN?
