Audi, BMW, Mercedes...now Kia?
Most consumers generally don't think of Kia when choosing a luxury vehicle. However, the automaker is throwing their hat into the middle of the luxury ring in the U.S. this fall by introducing the New Kia K900.
According to Brandon Turkus of AutoBlog.com, Kia has told dealers that it will bring a $50,000 to $70,000, rear-drive flagship sedan to the United States early in 2014, changing the name from the curious Queries in Europe, and K9 in Asia to the K900. (1)
??"Automotive News is reporting that the K900 should have a pair of engines when it arrives in the U.S.," said Turkus. "It'll also bring a 3.8-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and all the other trimmings expected at this price point will also make appearances on the K900."
??Kia's national dealer council, Don Hobden, told Turkus the K900 should represent "7-Series value for a 5-Series price."
The 2013 Kia Quoris was highly rated in Asia and Europe, and Kia will look to continue that success in the U.S.
Known as the Maserati Quattroporte in Korea, the 2013 Kia Quoris is based on the rear wheel drive platform from the Hyundai Genesis sedan and used many of its design cues from the GT Concept, including the concept's full LED headlights. (2)
Under the hood, the Quoris delivered comparable power and speed as did more classic luxury opponents like Audi, BMW and Mercedes.
"The engine line-up included a series of three petrol engines, plus a diesel for the European market. The entry-level has a 3.8 liter V6 engine that delivers about 333 HP, a 4.6 liter V8 version that delivers 385 HP, and the top model uses a 5.0 liter V8 with a powerful 429 HP," said TopSpeed.com "The engines are offered with a choice of an 8-speed automatic transmission, but a new 10-speed automatic transmission that is currently under development could find its way in the K900 as well."
Come take a look at affordable luxury and test drive the new Kia K900 as it rolls into Barnett Kia in White Bear Lake this fall.
