Imagine the typical Pope-mobile. Now imagine the Pope-mobile for Pope Francis' recent five-day visit to South Korea.

Bet you didn't imagine a Kia Soul. But you should have.

Given his choice of numerous Korean models, the Holy Father elected to be chauffeured around in a new Kia Soul. Almost certainly this gives the Soul a significant international boost in status because, while we love our hip-hop hamsters, it's tough to beat a selection by the Pope for raising a product's profile (if you want to see the Soul for yourself, your timing is perfect; the new 2015 Souls have arrived at Barnett Kia).

Upon his arrival in Seoul, the Bishop of Rome slid into the back seat of a sleek black Soul (likely reinforced somewhat if the Swiss Guard had anything to say about it), rolled down the window and waved back at the welcoming party, including President Park Guen Hye.

Pope Francis has consistently elected to use decidedly less impressive forms of transportation than his predecessors. He was known to take the bus while serving as a cardinal in Argentina, and even when he's needed a private car (now that he is, after all, the monarch of a sovereign city-state), he's chosen the likes of a humble 20-year-old Fiat, and encouraged his followers to take a similar approach to choosing their vehicles.

If you're interested in any of the Kia models, including the new (and now somewhat anointed) Soul, please visit Barnett Kia in White Bear Lake.

(P.S. There must SOME kind of comment to be made about the divinity of the Soul...but we're not gonna make it. No, we're not. No way.)
